Illegal Immigrants Essay #2 - 2475 Words
Illegal Immigrants Essay #2 (Essay Sample) Content: Name:Tutor:Course:Date:Illegal ImmigrantsPresently there are countless hot subjects on the minds of Americans such as abortion, drone wars, same sex marriage but then one of the most discussed topic is the whether illegal immigrants should be deported back to their legitimate countries. Actually this topic has been politicized for more than a decade now without a sustainable resolution. And so what are the consequences of tolerating illegal immigrants in our country? For this reason in this paper we are going to present the limitations of illegal immigrants in the United States in an organized argumentation justifying why illegal immigrants should be deported back to their countries.Did you know that illegal immigrants cost American taxpayers more than three hundred billion dollars annually. It has been reported that an illegal pregnant woman in the United States receives free medical service that cost at around six thousand dollars. According to a CRS report illegal immigrants were responsible for more than 16, 000 which is twice the crimes commuted by legal immigrants. Additionally the United States Consensus Bureau estimated that there are more than twelve million illegal immigrants in the United States, this is actually equivalent to the combined populations of Arizona, Iowa and New Mexico. Even worse the infiltration of illegal aliens this has resulted in a weighty increase in the rate of unemployment. To tell the truth these illegal immigrants are certainly bad news to the citizens to the United States and the economy.According to DHS latest report it is estimated that above twelve million unauthorized immigrants were living in the United States in 2012. In addition the statistics indicated that the overall unauthorized immigrant population living in the United States increased by thirty percent in the past decade. For these reasons official residents in this country seems to agree that an immigration reform is extremely essential but th en again constant politicization and conflict is preventing the country from a sustainable solution. Meanwhile the argument rotates around what should be done with all the illegal aliens that have infiltrated our country and living among us.On the other hand it is sensible to mention that some entities believe that illegal aliens are undeniably contributing to the economic and social and cultural prosperity that build the country. It is believed that majority are not criminals but instead hard working folks who have established a life in this country while honorably trying to blend in through hardship. Bearing in mind it is crucial to consider that a sustainable and reasonable immigration resolution must legalize the illegal immigrant status since it would reinforce national security and contribute to the economy.Similarly market experts maintain that the United States market depends on the existence of illegal immigrants. It is claimed that illegal immigrants add to the economy as market to the goods and services that are produced in this country. It has been reported that giant consumer companies such as credit-card companies, mortgage companies, insurance firms and banks have largely profited from the twelve million illegal immigrants living in this country. Even though it is illegal to employ an unauthorized worker there is nothing illegal about selling them goods and services. Wells Fargo acknowledged that illegal immigrants opened several accounts with the company. Another case is Kraft Foods Inc. whose target market is the Hispanic newcomers, but then again most Hispanic populaces enter the country illegally (Gale 48). As we all know there is no single market that can exist without the consumers.Additionally the opposition asserts that illegal immigrants add value to the economy as workers. It is reported that illegal immigrants assume occupations that the residents discriminate due to harsh working conditions and low wages. Thanks to their labor and e ntrepreneurship more occupations are created and the industries are boosted. Even though illegal foreign laborers add value to the economy they hang onto low wages in the industries that they dominate i.e. the hotel industry, construction firms and landscaping. And so these companies only employ unauthorized workers since they accept depressed wages and unbearable working conditions. On my judgment Americans deserve reasonable wages and not the unfair competition from the foreign laborers.Consistent with a survey conducted by Zach Swartz "there are virtually fifteen million official residents who are unemployed and seeking for viable employments while others are in temporary part-time jobs while searching for sustainable employments" (Confer 1). At the same time it estimates that approximately eight million illegal immigrants are working in the United States labor market even though they are not authorized to work in the country. In last year alone thanks to illegal immigrants near ly five million jobs were lost (Confer 2). Now consider the event whereby the illegal immigrants are deported back to their countries there will be around fourteen million job openings that will sustain the seventeen million unwaged official residents in this country. Good news is that the jobless population will be reduced to two million. .Lamar Smith, Texas Congressman stated that "the amnesty agenda was reckless and lethal for the hard working, tax paying and law abiding citizens. Rather than protecting the citizens the government enforced a policy that allows thousands of illegal immigrants to be released into the public" (Tate ibid). Furthermore illegal immigration is allied with illegal drug trafficking which is a foremost challenge in the United States. Simpson indicates that illegal Hispanic immigrants are accountable for capital crimes including human trafficking and cartel drug trade. Los Angeles Times reports that more than sixty percent of the Latino gangs are illegal im migrants (Simpson 2). Moreover around eighteen thousand offenders with capital crimes such as kidnapping, rape and murder are illegal immigrants. Good news is that four thousands of these convicted immigrants have been deported to their countries (Simpson 3).In April 2014 documents that were acquired by Judicial Watch indicated that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released over one hundred and sixty thousand criminal immigrants including violent crimes such as sex crimes robbery and kidnapping. Actually the documents indicated that the Obama administration is not enforcing enforcement priorities such as deporting convicted illegal aliens (Westwood ibid). Actually the convicted crimes involved 141 sex crimes, 18 murders, 49 firearms, 641 burglaries with several other drug related crimes. Bearing in mind that they have been released into the society and the recidivism is eighty percent half of these crimes would be reoffended within a year unless we deport them to their c ountries.Additionally illegal aliens have exhausted our health care resources. Consistent with a recent study more than forty present of the free medical services are provided individuals who are in the United States illegally. Unfortunately hospitals and other small medical facilities do not ask about citizenship prior to treatment (Vliet 1). Meanwhile most hospitals are struggling with the colossal costs attributable to uncompensated medical care services that were offered to folks who are illegally in the country and could not be turned away since they are unable to pay for their medical expenses (Vliet 1).Currently the impact created by illegal immigrants on health care economics in the country has become a thoughtful concern. Bearing in mind that the health care is already struggling, the influence of the undocumented persons makes the already high costs higher. Health care service in communities that are affected by high illegal immigration has been compromised since these hos pitals absorb over two million dollars in unpaid health care costs.Another major issue with the undocumented immigrants is the babies that are being born at an extremely high rate. It has been reported by Top Right News that anchor babies are bankrupting the tax payers from the reimbursed medical costs. Medicaid alone covered more than two billion to partially reimburse hospitals for unpaid illegal immigrant delivery bills. Even worse nearly eight four hospitals in California have been involuntary close down attributable to unpaid bills by illegal immigrants. And for that matter the hospitals that have managed to survive have transferred the burden to the taxpayer through raised insurance premiums and increasing out-of the pocket expenses. To tell the truth this is a slap in the face for the tax payer since it is bankrupting hospitals, schools and our social services. Ii is insanity. It must be stopped. Above all something must to be done. In my opinion they must be deported (Top Ri ght News). Moreover adult unauthorized immigrants represented three percent of the mainstream population in the country. Bearing in mind that the law allows the children of illegal immigrants to become an American citizen and once they turn eighteen they can sponsor their parents and other family members to be allowed and granted legal resident status. According to a survey conducted by Lino Graglia a law professor indicates that almost twenty percent of the overall population of the unauthorized immigrant families has an à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"anchor childà ¢Ã¢â ¬ with American citizenship status. Consequently the fourteenth amendment is indirectly increasing the population of this country and burden to the hard working tax paying American citizens.Definitely there are several fronts to debate the illegal immigration issue but when it comes to economics there is not discussion since it is clear that all economists agree that illegal immigrants are a burden to the eco...
